Laser Skin Resurfacing
At Lincoln Aesthetic Surgical Institute, we are proud to offer you the very latest and safest advancements in non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Laser skin resurfacing offers a newer and more innovative way to address changes within our skin due to aging and the effects of the sun, versus the older generation facial resurfacing procedures such as chemical peels or dermabrasion.
Laser skin resurfacing is ideal for addressing the following conditions:
- Mild to deep wrinkles including those surrounding the eyes or mouth
- Acne scars
- Scars following trauma or prior surgeries
- Seborrheic or actinic kerotoses or other types of skin lesions
- Dark or pigmented spots within the skin
- Loose or lax skin of the face (including both the upper and lower eyelids)
- Poor skin texture
Dr. Mitchell tailors his approach to your needs. Many options are available depending on the results you wish to achieve and the amount of downtime that fits your lifestyle.
Laser resurfacing is typically performed in the office with a topical anesthetic. In some instances, Dr. Mitchell may choose to supplement the topical anesthetic with a local block of anesthetic. During the procedure, cool air is blown over your skin to assist with comfort. Following the procedure, you will be given strict instructions regarding care for your skin.
Downtime varies depending upon the depth of the resurfacing. Light laser peels (between 4-10 microns) are similar to sunburn. Deeper peels may take a week for the skin to completely heal. Depending on the areas treated and the depth of the peel, swelling may occur. Redness may persist for up to a month, however, this can easily be camouflaged with make-up.
The results of laser resurfacing can be profound. Inquire today for a newer, fresher, more vibrant look and see if laser skin resurfacing is appropriate for you!
