Dr. Mitchell is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, as well as the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Mitchell grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, and graduated from the Creighton University School of Medicine. He completed his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Miami, Florida.
